And that includes a Mack semi truck with a low-load trailer equipped with full lights and sirens.

That’s an awesome truck... I read that tank as Call Fire as in an invitation to ring Fire and have a chat.... it says CAL fire.... Which also doesn’t make sense. Shouldn’t it be CA Fire?

I like these things:

Or maybe some nice cab over thing:

Of course closer to me, they have a different approach to dealing with out of the way places:

Some departments though need more mobility:

Or at least more wheels:

Though to my mind, the coolest fire trucks are sleek airport firetrucks (I’d love to know why they are different than normal trucks, spraying foam instead of water doesn’t seem like it should lead to a hugely different design):

A little township where I’m from has a Cherokee like this, I like it a lot.

3 reasons I would guess (first one I know for sure).

1. They have to be capable of quickly tacking any terrain that might result from a plane crashing *not* on the runway.

2. In some instances they have to be able to get up close to a burning plane and fight the fire without the firefighters even getting out right away.

3. They carry more water/foam than a typical pumper truck

I really like the way those airport fire rigs look. I think it'd be awesome to turn one into an off road camper. Likely the wrong unit for the job,but it sure would look neat.
